Upon reviewing her complaints, Tobias evidently urged the Board to look into the matter. Thus,

… a Special Committee of the Board (Jones and Tobias) reported on October 23, 1934, ‘a rather unfortunate misunderstanding’ on the part of the President, Treasurer Johnston, and Dean of Women Lucy D. Slowe, concerning their respective responsibilities for the use of University dormitories, dining rooms, and general assembly rooms. Thereupon, Flexner appointed Jones, Hawkins and Dr. Brown to correlate the responsibilities of the parties in question.8
